Welcome to Wigan 10’s Amateur Photography Club

Wigan 10 Foto Club is an amateur photographic club, federated to the Lancashire & Cheshire Photographic Union.  In comparison to most UK photographic clubs, Wigan 10 has a small membership, due to historically meeting in a home environment, as we don’t have a clubroom.   However, Wigan 10 has held a legacy of success at regional, national and international level as a club and also as individuals.  Our aim?  To enjoy and promote photography as a hobby across all genres..

Wigan 10 at Blists Hill Steampunk festival

On Saturday Mandy,Phil,Robert and Paul visited Ironbridge for the Steampunk festival. It was held around the Victorian town which is one of ten Ironbridge Gorge museums recreated to reflect Victorian life.An enjoyable day and we bumped into some friends from Chorley PS and Oldham PS,.A great location which had some of us trying and looking at Steampunk gear……….

Manchester Street Photography

Today a small group of us Robert,Damo,Steve and Paul headed for the Manchester streets for some street photography. The vibrant street art backdrops of the Northern Quarter provided the ideal setting  for some interesting shots. Plenty of opportunity to practise different street techniques. At times the pace was fast and furious, with the occasional stop loitering on a street corner waiting for the right character to appear. I don’t know what the technical term is for a group of loitering photographers …maybe ” a nuisance “. We also met Manchester royalty “Happy Alan” dressed in Vivian Westwood gear. An air of sadness as we passed through St Ann’s Square – the Manchester bomb tribute then on to China town and the central squares. Great weather, some good laughs and  lots of photographic opportunities …what more can you ask for?…
