An extra congratulations to Phil for winning a selectors medal!
Photo Munsingen – Switzerland 2015
A couple of us were kindly invited to display galleries and attended the Photo Munsingen annual event. It was a great honour for Austin Thomas and KT Allen to go over to Switzerland to host their galleries. Austin’s British Birds and KT’s creative images were both presented in unique formats with Austin’s images displayed outdoors fixed to the trees in the gardens of Munsingen and KT’s images printed on aluminium displayed suspended in the attic of the castle. Many thanks to Munsingen for hosting this annual event, which is a widely beneficial to support and inspire amateur photography around the world.
Austin Thomas wins BirdGuides Photo of the Year 2014
We are very proud that Austin gained recognition for one of his female kestrel portraits he has been working on perfecting from his local wildlife in Lancashire, UK.
The image Kestrel taken by Austin Thomas on 10 November 2014 won BirdGuides Photo of the Year 2014. The judges comments are runners up images can ve viewed here: http://www.birdguides.com/webzine/article.asp?a=4847
Austin says “I am delighted to announce that my image of a Kestrel has been awarded PHOTO OF THE YEAR 2014 by BIRDGUIDES. There were around 325,000 bird images uploaded to www.birdguides.com over the last year, so for mine to be chosen from such a large pool is personally very rewarding. Well done to all of the runners up and Highly Commended photographers and thanks to Birdguides and their judges for organising this competition. This image was in fact one of the very first images I took whilst testing and fine tuning my Canon 7D MK2 camera . It was coupled to a Canon 800mm lens when this picture was taken.”
