Wigan 10 Foto Club
Wigan 10 Foto Club is an amateur photographic club, federated to the Lancashire & Cheshire Photographic Union. In comparison to most UK photographic clubs, Wigan 10 has a small membership, due to historically meeting in a home environment, as we don’t have a clubroom. However, Wigan 10 has held a legacy of success at regional, national and international level as a club and also as individuals. Our aim? To enjoy and promote photography as a hobby across all genres.
Welcome to Wigan 10’s Amateur Photography Club
Saturday saw Wigan 10 being presented with 2 prestigious awards at the annual L&CPU award ceremony held at Urmston library. We were presented with trophies for winning the L&CPU DPI and Monochrome titles. Many of our members received individual awards too and our very own Phil Barber received his medal for winning “Photographer of the Year” a great achievement. You can see the exhibition of photography at Urmston Library until 28thJuly.

Today a small group of us Robert,Damian,Steve and Paul headed for the Manchester streets for some street photography. The vibrant street art backdrops of the Northern Quarter provided the ideal setting for some interesting shots. Plenty of opportunity to practise different street techniques. At times the pace was fast and furious, with the occasional stop loitering on a street corner waiting for the right character to appear. I don’t know what the technical term is for a group of loitering photographers …maybe ” a nuisance “. We also met Manchester royalty “Happy Alan” dressed in Vivian Westwood gear. An air of sadness as we passed through St Ann’s Square – the Manchester bomb tribute then on to China town and the central squares. Great weather, some good laughs and lots of photographic opportunities …what more can you ask for?…
